Beauty Makeup on Prosthetics - What's in My Makeup Kit? #13

"What's in My Makeup Kit?" features my favorite makeup item in my makeup box.

Today's theme is "Beauty Makeup on Prosthetics".

When you are asked to put some beauty makeup on prosthetics, do you feel uncomfortable doing it since you think you are an effects artist? I bet many FX artists feel this way. Here is an easy mindset: think like you are a painter and the ladies in front of you are 3D canvases. You just need to have a good primer and base color. Then, play with mixing colors to make the person sharp and pretty. And keep your makeup station neat, organized, and clean.

Here are some good makeup kits for beauty makeup on prosthetics.

  1. Revlon Color Stay

    1. Revlon ColorStay is a liquid foundation and sits well on latex and silicone. I use this for bald cap edges and continue it on their foreheads and cheeks. It blends really well and does not bother the edges.

  2. Kryolan's RMGP

    1. RMGP is Rubber Mask Grease Paint. It is oil-based makeup mixed with castor oil. It is used for foam latex normally. However, it is also good on silicone as well. You can use this as a foundation on the entire face after prosthetics. Then, use No Color Powder to set. Because it is oil-based, powder makeup will sit and bond on the skin well. You can even thin it out with 99% alcohol and airbrush it on the actresses. Then, add any makeup on top of it.

  3. Cannom RMGP

    1. It is also RMGP. It is thicker than Kryolan's RMGP. Because of that, it does not melt easily. I just use alcohol to thin it out and use it as a foundation, then add some other beauty makeup over this.
